Southington Police Charge Meriden Man After Standoff
The 32-year-old is facing several charges from several departments, with two separate SWAT teams called to a Southington home.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 32-year-old Meriden man was taken into custody by Southington police after a standoff at a local residence required action from a police SWAT team.
According to the Southington Police Department on Monday morning, Jeffrey Colrus, 32, of 170 Woodland St., Meriden, was charged with interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident, which happened late Friday afternoon.
He was being held on $20,000 bond for those charges, with warrants already out from Southington police for other offenses, including: third-degree burglary; sixth-degree larceny; third-degree criminal mischief; disorderly conduct; and second-degree threatening.

A neighbor said they could hear loud banging from inside the home, indicating an altercation was occurring, police said.
Witnesses prior to the report said they noticed a white car parked inside the garage, one known to be associated with Colrus, according to the SPD.
Polie said Colrus has a history of altercations with that home's resident and Colrus recently made threats to kill himself and police.
Southington police said they were able to identify Colrus being inside the home, with the department establishing a perimeter, closing the roadway and activating the department's emergency response team or its SWAT team.
Local police said threats to kill the home's resident and the severity of the pending charges against the suspect prompted them to request activation of the Centeral Region Emergency Response Team.
Those responders, Southington police said, entered the home and located the homeowner, taking the individual to safety.
Utilizing the services of a state police canine, "Kay," police found Colrus hiding inside the house at about 8:30 p.m. Friday and he was taken into custody without incident, Southington police said.
Colrus was expected to appear in New Britain Superior Court Monday to face charges relative to the Southington Police Department.
Meanwhile, Colrus was also charged by the North Branford Police Department for failure to appear in court and is the subject of arrest warrants from Connecticut State Police and the Meriden Police Department.
Southington police said Colrus also faces additional charges from Southington in connection with being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
