Southington Seeks 'Prom Shop' Donations

Southington Community Services will open the 2025 Prom Shop, where teens can get free prom attire, in March 2025.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The new year has just arrived, but Southington Community Services is already looking ahead celebratory period on the calendar — prom season.

The town's social services agency organizes its popular "Prom Shop," a "store" that offers anyone who needs donated prom dresses, formal wear, and various accessories associated with the milestone moment in a high school student's life.

Key to this, however, are donations and community services on Monday asked folks to donate what they could to the cause.

This milestone, however, can be enormously expensive to teens who are often on a budget.

This is why the Prom Shop has been such a successful option in recent years as clients can get some pretty fashionable attire at no cost.

While no formal dates have been set aside yet for the 2025 "Prom Shop," the town said it will be sometime in March.

For now, they're just looking for folks to donate what they can.

Donations will be expected during regular business hours at Southington Community Services, 91 Norton St., Plantsville. For more information, call 860-628-3761.
