SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A business deal between friends that went awry led to a serious set of forgery charges against an Andover man in South Windsor, the police chief said Thursday.

South Windsor police on Wednesday arrested 29-year-old Joseph Sudik in relation to the botched deal for a moving company located on John Fitch Boulevard, the local name for U.S. Route 5, police chief Scott Custer said.

He was charged with three counts of first-degree forgery and first-degree identity theft.

Sudik was later released on $150,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Oct. 16, according to a report.

The transaction was supposed to be completed in August, according to a report. Sudik presented documents that, when cross checked through the bank allegedly providing the financing, proved to be forged, according to a report. Once the fraud was discovered, the business owner contacted police and an arrest warrant was obtained, Custer said.
