LETTER: State Senator's Wife Urges His Re-election

Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

On November 3rd, Tim and I will be married for 32 years. Long before we met, Tim was involved in the betterment of his community. His commitment to public service has not wavered in all the years we have been together, and is a valuable trait he has passed on to our children. Tim doesn’t self-promote; he listens and gets results.

As State Senator, Tim has been committed to the people of East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington and South Windsor. When constituents in East Windsor came to him in opposition of the proposed gun range, he held a bipartisan hearing, listened and helped to redirect its location. When Peter Anthony, a South Windsor resident, came to him about building the Veteran’s Memorial Wall, he listened and delivered. When the people of Ellington and East Hartford wanted their student athletes to play on a field that was up to date and provided a gathering place for families, he listened and helped to secure the funding. When businesses in all four towns came to him for grant assistance, he listened and helped to secure funding for them.

These are just a few of the many examples of his commitment – I have seen firsthand the late hours each night and each weekend talking to people, attending meetings, and working hard to help meet the needs of the communities he represents. He has never turned away from a request or problem.

Anyone who knows Tim can attest to the fact that he is a man of character. While he holds dear the values of the Democratic Party, I liken him to Secretary Clinton’s description as a “progressive who likes to get things done." He is a team player who has been known to work collaboratively across the aisle to achieve our shared vision of success not only for the third Senatorial District, but for our state as well.

I hope you will join me in voting for Tim on November 8th!
