• $30 million project would bring 125 apartments, modern retail to CT suburb (courant.com) — A long-vacant South Windsor plaza on Sullivan Avenue may be reborn as 125 apartments and 60,000 square feet of updated retail, in a $30 million proposal now seeking wetlands approvals. Town economic officials say the mixed-use project could boost tax revenue, create jobs, and replace a fenced-off eyesore with walkable, New England-style buildings and new landscaping.
   

• 6 injured in 9-vehicle Conn. crash that triggers MCI response (ems1.com) — A nine-vehicle crash involving a school van shut down westbound I-291 in South Windsor for hours Monday morning, injuring six people and triggering a mass-casualty response from multiple towns. Fire officials say ongoing construction and sudden backups near the Bissell Bridge have caused repeated serious crashes, and state police are investigating while environmental crews clean up spilled vehicle fluids.
   

• 9-vehicle crash renews concerns about speeding in Connecticut work zones (nbcconnecticut.com) — A nine-vehicle crash on I-291 near South Windsor has prompted new speed-camera enforcement and safety measures in that work zone, where the local fire department reports multiple crashes this summer. State transportation officials say more than one-third of drivers speed through active work areas, and they're urging extra caution heading into the busy Labor Day travel period.
