South Windsor Girls' Basketball Survives NFA, Returns to Mohegan Sun
The top-seeded Bobcats will play for the Class LL state championship this weekend.

The South Windsor girls’ basketball team held off a late rally and survived a potential game-timing 3-pointer at the buzzer to claim a 54-51 semifinal victory over No. 4 NFA Monday night and return to the Mohegan Arena for the Class LL state championship game.
The top-seeded Bobcats (27-1), who lost to Lauralton Hall in last year’s title game, will face No. 2 Wilton in the final on either Saturday or Sunday at Mohegan Sun.
Amy McConnell led South Windsor with 21 points, including a 10-for-10 performance from the free-throw line.

McDonnell, who also made a key block late in the game, suffered a torn ACL last year and missed the championship game.
“Here’s a kid who wanted it more than anything last year and she had to sit there and watch her teammates play in a game that she has dreamed of all of her life,” South Windsor coach Don LeClerc told Marc Allard of the Norwich Bulletin.

South Windsor senior Sara Jackson, who converted a key three-point play late in the game, told Lori Riley of the Hartford Courant that the Bobcats have “some unfinished business” at Mohegan Sun.
The 17th-seeded South Windsor boys’ basketball team, which is two wins away from joining the girls at Mohegan Sun, will play No. 9 Bassick in the Class L quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bassick.
