Dennis and another man, John Papin, were later identified as being responsible for the knifepoint robbery of several hundred dollars.
South Windsor investigators worked with detectives from other towns that experienced similar crimes and developed Dennis as a suspect.
The subsequent investigation led to investigators obtaining arrest warrants for Dennis. Papin was arrested in early December.
Dennis was held at court on a $195,000 surety bond and was presented later Tuesday morning.
