Car Gets Stuck On Pile Of Rocks On Road In Willington

A subcompact car had a close encounter with a rock pile Sunday in Willington, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — A subcompact car became stuck on a rock pile on a street in Willington early Sunday morning, state police said.

According to a state police crash report, at 4:25 a.m Sunday, a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic being driven by a 19-year-old Plainville resident was heading north on Ruby Road. The driver told troopers that he was traveling at about 35 mph and did not see a pile of rocks in the middle of the road, according to a crash report.

The rocks became stuck between the car's oil pan and the road. The driver was able to slowly get the car loose, but it sustained "moderate" damage to its undercarriage, sate police said.

The driver was not hurt. according to a crash report. The crash report did not mention how the rocks may have wound up on the road.
