Cargo Van, Car Collide In Willington

WILLINGTON, CT — A small sedan collided with a full-size cargo van Thursday in Willington. leaving the driver of the sedan with serious injuries, state police said.

The crash was reported at 10:43 a.m. and state police said it took place near the Willington Hill Road-Eldredge Road-Pinney Hill Road intersection.

According to a state police crash report, a 2016 Toyota Corolla was travelling south on Willington Hill Road (also state Route 320) and it was approaching the intersection with Pinney Hill Road. A Ram full-size cargo van was stopped at a stop sign on Pinney Hill Rd entering the travel portion of Willington Hill Road, according to a state police report.

The two vehicles collided in the northbound travel lane of Willington Hill Road and the Corolla then struck a utility pole, according to a crash report. The van struck a rock wall after the crash, state police said.

The driver of the Corolla, a 62-year-old Tolland woman, was transported by Willington Ambulance to Hartford Hospital with suspected serious injuries, according to a crash report. The van operator, a 46-year-old New London man, was transported by UConn Ambulance to Windham Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said.
