WILLINGTON, CT — Wayward vehicles took out a tree and a mailbox in separate crashes in Willington last week, state police said.

On April 24 at 1:29 a.m., a 2004 Hyundai Accent driven by a 31-year-old Willington man was heading west on Tolland Turnpike when it swerved off the road and struck a tree, according to a crash report.

State police said the driver avoided injury.

On April 26 at 7:23 a.m., a 2018 BMW X1 driven by a 21-year-old Sturbridge, MA, woman was traveling south on Ruby Road about a tenth-of-a-mile north of Cosgrove Road when it hit a mailbox along the 300 block, according to a report.

The driver was not hurt, state police said.
