Driver Unhurt After Crash At Johnson Hospital, But Gets DUI Charge

A crash in Stafford left the driver with a drunken driving charge, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — A driver avoided taking a trip across the parking lot after a crash at Johnson Memorial Hospital last week, but she certainly made a trip to the police station.

The 26-year-old from Stafford was charged with driving under the influence.

At 3:16 p.m. on Aug. 22, a state trooper on patrol noticed a Jeep Cherokee Classic that had rolled onto the curb at the entrance to the hospital, according to an arrest report. As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver said sh was having mechanical problems, according to an arrest report.

The driver, who was showing signs of impairment, consented to a sobriety test and failed it, state police said. She is now due in court the face the DUI charge on Sept. 11.

She was not hurt.
