Falling Hay Bales From Stafford Driver Cause Mayhem On I-84

ASHFORD, CT — Several bales of hay fell off a trailer and wreaked havoc on a stretch on Interstate 84 in northern Connecticut last week, state police said.

The incident took place at 5:31 p.m. on Sept. 12, state police said.

According to a crash report, A 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander being driven by a 42-year-old Worcester, MA, woman, was heading east in the left-hand lane on I-84. In front of the sport utility vehicle was a pickup truck owned by a Hartford County farm pulling a trailer full of hay bales, a crash report indicates.

The driver of the pickup, a 23-year-old woman from Stafford, failed to secure the hay and the baled began falling out of the trailer and onto the highway near Exit 72, according to a crash report. The Mitsibishi then hit some of the hay bales, according to a crash report.

No injuries were reported.
