STAFFORD, CT — A motorcycle hit a stone wall in a high-speed crash in Stafford early Friday morning, state police said.

The crash took place at 2:17 a.m.

According to a state police crash report, a 2008 Harley Davidson driven by a 50-year-old Pennsylvania was was headed north on Old Springfield Road near Worthington Road at a high rate of speed.

The bike drifted onto a "sandy" shoulder and slid through a "wooded" area before hitting a tree and stone wall, the report indicates.

The driver was thrown over the motorcycle and into the stone wall, state police said.

He was transported to Bay State Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the report.
