School Crosswalk Signs Wrecked In Willington

A weekend incident left signs at a school in Willington damaged.

WILLINGTON, CT — Two crosswalk signs were wrecked at a Willington school over the weekend, state police said.

The crash took place at 4:25 p.m. Saturday.

According to a state police report, an unknown vehicle pulled out of the exit side of the Hall Memorial School parking lot and then began to back up.

The vehicle then hit a pedestrian crossing sign and a speed limit marker at the crosswalk and then drove away on River Road, state police said.

According to surveillance video, the vehicle seems to be a white or gray Honda Pilot with rear end and tail light damage.

The signs are designed to give motorists along busy River Road a heads-up to the upcoming crosswalk at the school.
