State Police Cruiser Hit By Runaway Truck Tires On I-84
A Connecticut state trooper escaped serious injury as runaway truck tires slammed into his parked cruiser on Interstate 84 Friday.

WILLINGTON, CT — A Connecticut state police trooper escaped serious injury Friday morning as tires that broke loose from a tractor-trailer slammed into his parked cruiser, authorities said.
State police said that, at about 8:40 a.m. Friday the trooper was parked off the highway in a dirt area adjacent to the I-84 westbound Exit 70 ramp in Willington. A set of double tractor trailer tires that had come off a truck hit the rear of the cruiser and smashed the trunk and rear window, state police said.
The driver of the tractor-trail continued driving and had not been located as of early Friday afternoon.

The Trooper attempted to follow the tractor-trailer but was unsuccessful, authorities said.
The Trooper suffered minor injuries and was being treated at an area hospital, star police said.
