SUV Takes Out DOT Signs Before Hitting Building In Willington: Police
A driver was cited for distracted driving after a Jeep hit a building in Willington.

WILLINGTON, CT — A Jeep Cherokee with a distracted driver behind the wheel ran over some signs before hitting a building in Willington over the weekend, state police said.
The crash took place at 10:20 a.m. Saturday on River Road, just west of the Tolland Turnpike interchange, according to a crash report.
The Cherokee, a 2008 model being driven by a 22-year-old Fairfield man, was heading south in River Road when it veered off the pavement and struck several state Department of Transportation signs before hitting a building at 32 Tolland Turnpike, according to a crash report.

The car sped through the intersection at 70- mph before hitting the building, according to a crash report.
The driver was charged with reckless driving, driving while using a hand-held device, a lane violation and a traffic control violation.
