Wide Load Turns Out To Be Too Wide In Stafford Rotary
A crane tangled with a pole in Stafford last week.

STAFFORD, CT — A crane took out a utility pole a busy road in Stafford last week, state police said.
According to a crash report, at 5:17 p.m. on Aug. 9, a Kenworth Construction equipment carrier with a crane aboard was headed west on East Main Street and began to navigate the rotary in the center of town.
The crane was "not properly stored" and was actually sticking out on the right side, state police said. The crane clipped an out-of-service utility pole on the way around the rotary, according to a crash report.
