The American Red Cross was assisting those who were displaced by the early morning fire, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

STAMFORD, CT —Nineteen people have been temporarily displaced after a fire ripped through a garage and damaged nearby residences early Monday morning, according to the Stamford Fire Department.

Several units responded to the rear of a building in the 60 block of Myrtle Avenue at 12:31 a.m. and found a 10-foot by 20-foot wood frame garage used for storing landscaping equipment "fully involved" with fire, the SFD said in a news release, noting the exterior of a nearby exposed residence was beginning to burn as well.
