2-Hour Delayed Opening Announced For Stamford Public Schools

Connecticut is still digging out following the major winter storm that barreled through the region over the weekend.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools has announced that it will operate under a two-hour delay on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The school district, like many others around the state, was closed on Monday following the major winter storm that barreled through the region Sunday.

Garbage and recycling pickup this week in Stamford will be delayed by one day, the city announced. Additionally, the Take it Or Leave it and Book Swap shops at Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center will be closed all week.

A winter snow emergency was declared for Stamford from Saturday, Jan. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, unless lifted earlier.

All vehicles must be removed from designated snow emergency routes. Vehicles left on these routes are subject to ticketing and towing. Free parking is available at the Bedford Street, Bell Street, and Summer Street parking garages.
