3-Year-Old Reportedly Survives Five-Story Plunge In Stamford

The girl was being babysat by a partially blind grandmother.

STAMFORD, CT — A three-year-old girl fell out of a Stamford apartment window Tuesday afternoon, plunging about five-stories, but survived because she landed in a pile of fresh mulch in the parking lot below, reports the Stamford Advocate.

The girl, who was being babysat by a partially blind grandmother and an aunt in another room, opened the window while playing in The Fairfield Apartments on Morgan Street and fell out, according to the publication. The apartment is on the second floor, but the fall actually equaled about five stories where the parking lot is located.

She was conscious, crying and moving when she was whisked to the hospital after she was discovered, and she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries from the massive fall.
