35 Stamford Pedestrians Issued Warnings Within 90 Minutes: Report

Police issued 35 warnings to pedestrians in less than two hours during an enforcement initiative, and one driver received a $400 ticket.

STAMFORD, CT — Police said 35 pedestrians received verbal warnings within 90 minutes on Monday during a targeted enforcement of busy intersections in Stamford, made possible through a state Department of Transportation Pedestrian Safety Grant, the Stamford Advocate reports.

Pedestrians in the area of Broad, Bedford and Atlantic streets were cited for crossing out of the crosswalk, against the walk signal and running in front of traffic, according to the Stamford Advocate. A driver was also issued a $407 ticket after nearly striking a carriage while passing a vehicle stopped for five pedestrians at an intersection, police said.
