"ART & TEXT" Exhibition Opens Sept. 19 at The Ferguson Library
The "Art & Text" exhibition highlights the role of libraries in bringing art to the community.

Art Spaces in Fairfield County Libraries, a consortium of 13 libraries that offer curated visual art exhibitions, is pleased to present “Art & Text,” a united exhibition featuring the work of local and regional artists. Each library within the consortium will highlight one or more artists, whose work reflects their unique perspectives on the exhibition’s theme. Through mixed media ranging from sculpture and painting to graphics, each library’s exhibition aims to promote awareness of visual arts in the libraries of Fairfield County, as well as foster a connection between the community it serves and the arts.
The Ferguson Library in Stamford is participating in “Art & Text” with an exhibition that runs September 19 through January 16, 2020. It will be a juried show, curated by the Stamford Art Association, featuring a number of local and regional artists interpreting the theme. An opening reception will be held in the library’s auditorium gallery Thursday, September 19 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Libraries participating in the 2019 Art & Text show are: Bethel Library, Cyrenius H. Booth Library, Fairfield Public Library, The Ferguson Library, New Canaan Library, Norwalk Public Library, Pequot Library, Plumb Memorial Library, Ridgefield Library, Stratford Library, The Westport Library, Weston Public Library, and Wilton Library.

The Association's Townhouse Gallery holds eight consecutive shows each year, six of which are juried exhibits and two are solo exhibits, with prominent jurors from art schools, galleries and institutions in New York and surrounding areas, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum, Bruce Museum, and Museum of Modern Art. All artists, not just members, are welcome to submit their work for exhibit. Annual competitions draw submissions from local, regional, and national artists.
