Completion Date Set For Demolition Of Stamford's St. John's Tower
Roads near the downtown site have been re-opened Thursday afternoon.

STAMFORD, CT — The demolition of St. John's Tower in Stamford is expected to be completed by 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, but both sides of Washington Boulevard - from Tresser Boulevard to Bell Street - have been re-opened, according to Stamford police and city officials.
Work on the demolition project began on Jan. 25, and Washington Boulevard was temporarily closed again earlier this week for safety reasons.
"Stamford’s chief responsibility is to the safety of our residents," stated Mayor David Martin Tuesday. "We're not satisfied with the condition of the building, so we have made the decision to close Washington Boulevard and have the demolition contractor address these concerns immediately."
