The Curtis Winchester Trio to perform at The Ferguson Library's Summer Reading Club Finale Party at the Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch.
Enjoy some of the classic songs of Nat “King” Cole, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, Lennon/McCartney and many more at The Ferguson Library’s Adult Summer Reading Club Finale Concert featuring The Curtis Winchester Trio. You are sure to recognize (and sing along with) just about every song on this musical journey. The finale concert will take place on Thursday, August 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the lawn at the library’s Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch*. (Special reception for members with invitation at 6:30 p.m.)
In addition to international rhythm and blues vocalist Curtis Winchester, the members of The Curtis Trio are John Cobert and Rob Wallis.
Curtis Winchester was a founding member of local Westchester blues band “Blues Depot” performing across the tri-state area in the 1990s and 2000s. From 2006 to 2015 he was been the main vocalist for Grammy®-nominated guitarist Gil Parris and his band, performing regularly around the region. Curtis was the singer when the Gil Parris Band opened for the legendary “King of the Blues”, B.B. King in 2009 at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill.

Jon Cobert is a musician whose skills on the piano, organ, accordion, guitar, bass, and drums, combined with a talent for singing, have propelled his career. Jon has recorded with John Lennon, Tom Chapin, Loudon Wainwright III and John Denver, among many others. His tours and TV appearances, as well as his many successful jingles and five Grammy nominations for producing Tom Chapin’s family recordings, has put him in the top echelon of American musicians.
For 35 years, Rob Wallis has been producing records, videos and concerts with most of the major drummers around the world, earning him the nickname of the “Drum Guru.” Working with drum legends like Neil Peart and Steve Gadd, and such world-renowned artists as BB King, Chick Corea and Carlos Santana, he has produced more than 500 titles that are sold worldwide in many languages. He has continued to play music and has recorded numerous jingles and records, performed on Broadway and can be heard on the top-10 single of the TV theme song, “Cheers: Where Everybody Knows Your Name.”

*The Ferguson Library Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch is located at 1143 Hope Street, Stamford. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Harry Bennett Branch, located at 115 Vine Road, Stamford. (Location change would be announced by noon on August 16.)
