Ferguson Library to Hold Virtual Comedy Fundraiser May 29
The Ferguson Library has moved is spring gala online!
The Ferguson Library has moved is spring gala online and will host an online auction May 22 – 29, culminating in a Virtual Comedy Fundraiser Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m. Members of the local comedy troupe, Nights of the Roundtable, will perform.
The library’s spring gala, A Novel Affair, usually held in April, was cancelled this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event usually raises about $250,000, funds that are used to buy books, including titles in digital format, which are now in high demand. The funds raised also provide services like early childhood literacy programs, adult English language learning and technology training. Many of these programs have also been moved online during this time.
The dollars raised in the virtual auction and comedy fundraiser will not only augment the library’s digital collections, but help provide critical funds to keep the library operating. In addition to funding from the city, the Ferguson relies on donations and income from their passport office, which has also been closed.
