Stamford's Harborfest 2019 Celebration To Feature Fireworks
The free annual event will feature a number of fun activities, including fireworks, a dog costume parade and cornhole tournaments.
STAMFORD, CT — SoundWaters' Harborfest, a free community event held every year in Stamford's Harbor Point, is set to take place Saturday at 2200 Atlantic Street from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The fourth annual event will feature a number of fun activities this year, including a boat parade, cornhole tournaments harbor history tours, musical performances and even a dog costume parade.
This year's festival will also include a fireworks show at 8:25 p.m., which event officials said was mostly paid for by the fireworks company as a result of the city's Independence Day fireworks show experiencing technical difficulties this year.
The fireworks can be viewed from Stamford's waterfront, Kosciuszko Park and John Boccuzzi Park on Southfield Avenue.

Harborfest's main event is the Cardboard Kayak Race, in which teams must assemble a
kayak entirely out of cardboard within two hours and race them. The winner of the event will receive the Mayor's Cardboard Cup, presented by Martin himself.

"SoundWaters has created a real sense of community around HarborFest," Mayor David Martin said in a prepared statement. "This organization has done a lot to preserve, and educate students about, our Long Island Sound. I'm happy to partake in the festivities by awarding the Cardboard Cup to this year's winner."
Anyone can enter the Cardboard Kayak Race, however a $100 entry fee to pay for supplied cardboard materials is required.
"This event is the culmination of hard work over the last year to put together a great event welcoming everyone in the region to come celebrate our waterfront," Director of Economic Development Thomas Madden said in a prepared statement.
Free parking will be available in Harbor Point garages and lots during the event. Police will also be in the area to direct traffic without impacting local residents' access.
