Major Repairs Announced For Stamford Train Station Garage: DOT

Work on the garage is scheduled to begin next month, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

STAMFORD, CT — Major repairs to the newer section of the Stamford Transportation Center parking garage were announced this week by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Work on the garage, located on Station Place, is scheduled to begin the week of July 8 and is estimated to last approximately five months, the DOT says.

Work will consist of roof level repairs to the garage's concrete deck and underside to address water infiltration issues, which will be performed by Frank Capasso and Sons Inc. of Northford and administered by Fusco Management Company, LLC (Fusco) under their facility management agreement for operation and maintenance of the state-owned transportation center complex., the DOT says.

New stair tread covers are currently being installed in the northeast stairwell, and miscellaneous nosing repairs are being made in other stairwells of the garage, the DOT says.

Repair work has been divided into seven phases to minimize any inconvenience to pedestrians and loss of parking spaces. According to the DOT, work will generally occur on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., however this is subject to change.

Construction signage will be posted on levels four, five and six of the Orange and Blue sections of the garage to help guide customers to available parking locations. Any spaces that will be temporarily out of service during repair work will be marked with a sign and blocked with safety barriers, the DOT says.
