STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford native was killed in a crash on I-95 last week, and the driver has been charged, according to Connecticut State Police.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed with Patch the identity of the deceased as Shyquinn Dix, 32.
Dix was the passenger in a 2001 Honda Prelude that was driven by Jawora Davidson, 37, of Bridgeport, who was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in a proper lane.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on March 29 on I-95 Southbound near Exit 6 in Stamford.
Citing a preliminary investigation, state police said Davidson lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and went into the right shoulder and then veered to the left and crossed all three lanes of travel before colliding with the concrete jersey barrier located in the median shoulder.

The impact caused the Honda to come to a final resting place back in the center of the highway, state police said.
Another vehicle, a 2019 Ford Transit van that was traveling in the center lane, collided with the Honda in a head-on collision, state police said.
The driver of the van reported injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital. Dix was pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital.
Davidson did not suffer any injuries in the crash, state police said.
"Davidson's speech was slurred, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, his coordination was poor, he was highly disoriented, and the strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanated from his breath," police said in an arrest report. "Troopers conducted an investigation to include the administering of standardized field sobriety tests, none of which Davidson performed to standard."
Chemical breath testing found Davidson's Blood Alcohol Content was in excess of twice the legal limit, police said. Davidson was unable to post a $250,000 bond.
Dix, a standout basketball player, was featured in a "60 Minutes" segment in 2019 about T.R.U.E., (truthful, respectful, understanding and elevating to success) a German-style rehabilitation program at the Cheshire Correctional Institution.
Dix was serving a four-year sentence for felony check fraud at the time, according to the segment.
After his release, Dix enrolled at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and starred on the basketball team there. Dix then played at Bryant & Stratton College after a short stint at UMPI, according to their website.
