Greenwich Man Pleads Guilty In Hit-And-Run That Killed Stamford Woman: Attorney
Sentencing for the man is scheduled for Aug. 14.
STAMFORD, CT — The man charged in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Stamford woman two days before Thanksgiving in 2023 has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility, according to the man's attorney, Lindy Urso.
Salvatore Longo, a resident of the Cos Cob section of Greenwich, is expected to be sentenced on Aug. 14 to 12 years in prison, suspended after he serves six years, followed by five years of probation, Urso told Patch. Longo pleaded guilty Wednesday in Stamford Superior Court.
"Sal is extremely remorseful for the poor decisions he made that morning. He has consistently expressed his desire to accept responsibility for his actions. Agreeing to this disposition is an important step in that direction," Urso said in an emailed statement.

Police said they identified a suspect early on in the investigation and located and seized the suspect vehicle several hours after the crash.
Longo was interviewed the day of the crash and denied hitting a pedestrian, police said at the time.
The suspect vehicle was analyzed and tested by the State of Connecticut Forensic Laboratory, and once results came back, an arrest warrant for Longo was applied for and ultimately granted.
Longo surrendered to police on March 20, 2024. He was originally charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle and felony evading responsibility, police said.
