Stamford Man Pleads Not Guilty To PCP Distribution, Gun Possession: Feds

The man was originally arrested on Feb. 9, according to prosecutors.

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man pleaded not guilty last week in Hartford to PCP distribution and firearm possession offenses, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

A federal grand jury on Aug. 21 returned a three-count indictment charging Jamaine Jones, 39, with possession with intent to distribute phencyclidine, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, an offense that carries a mandatory consecutive sentence of at least five years; and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, an offense that carries a maximum term of 15 years.

"The indictment alleges that on February 9, 2024, Jones possessed with intent to distribute phencyclidine (PCP), and possessed a loaded Beretta 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The indictment further alleges that Jones’ criminal history includes state felony convictions for drug, robbery, and assault offenses," Avery said in a news release. "It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce."
