Man Wanted In Connection With Homicide Probe Identified: Police

Stamford police have identified a man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation and are asking for the public's help locating him.

STAMFORD, CT — A man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation has been identified by Stamford police and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately.

In a statement, police said they have an arrest warrant for Samuel Delfiro Zapata-Herrera, a 29-year-old Guatemalan man. He is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches and 190 pounds.

Police said he is believed to be undocumented and does not have a last know address in Stamford. Though he is still believed to be in the Stamford area, police said he may be trying to make his way back to Guatemala.

A photo of the accused can be seen on the department's Facebook page. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the department at 203-977-4417 or 203-977-4444.

According to police, an officer in Stamford was flagged down around 9 p.m. Sunday by a concerned resident reporting a man down on the sidewalk. The officer located the man with multiple stab wounds along the 100 block of Stillwater Avenue, police said.

"Stamford fire and EMS [crews] responded and administered aid to the victim, however the victim succumbed to [his] injuries and was pronounced deceased by paramedics," police said.

The victim was identified by police Tuesday as Isaias Sagastume-Aceituno, 37, of Stamford. Police said investigators determined he was among a group inside Reyes Bar and Restaurant, located on Stillwater Avenue.

At one point, the group moved outside and Sagastume-Aceituno got into a struggle with two men who assaulted him, police said.

Sagastume-Aceituno was "repeatedly stabbed" during the struggle, police said. He then walked away from the restaurant and collapsed, police said.

Police said Tuesday they were seeking two suspects and had obtained still photos of them. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects or any other related information is asked to contact the department's Major Crimes Unit at 203-977-4417.
