Mother, Infant Fall Onto Train Tracks In Stamford: MTA

STAMFORD, CT — A mother and her child fell onto the tracks at the Stamford Train Station on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The Stamford Advocate reported that the woman, 34, fell on her head and was seriously injured. Her 9-month-old baby was strapped into a stroller, and suffered minor cuts to his face and forehead. Both were taken to Stamford Hospital.

The incident occurred at 1:20 p.m., according to an MTA spokesperson. There were no nearby trains in motion at the time; the crew of a train that was stopped at the station saw what happened and immediately called for help.

A Danbury-bound train and a New Canaan-bound train were briefly delayed Tuesday afternoon.

An MTA spokesperson said MTA Police and Metro-North Railroad are investigating, and there is no criminality suspected.
