New Assistant Principal Appointed At Westhill High School

STAMFORD, CT — Superintendent of Stamford Public Schols Dr. Tamu Lucero announced on Tuesday the appointment of Amparo Fabre as assistant principal at Westhill High School.

Fabre is a Connecticut certified biology teacher who holds an endorsement in bilingual biology, the school district said in a news release.

Until her recent appointment, Fabre served as a biology teacher at Westhill for more than nine years. She taught ninth grade honors biology, 10th grade CP biology, and bilingual biology.

Most recently, Fabre was the teacher lead for the adult education high school diploma program, and has been a summer school lead teacher and a summer school English language learner enrichment teacher.

"Her contributions to the Westhill learning community are extensive, as both an educator and an active member of the leadership team. Fabre herself is a graduate of Westhill, and a lifelong resident of Stamford," the school district said in a news release.

Associate Superintendent of SPS Dr. Michael Fernandes said in a news release that Fabre "excels as a leader, and is adept at motivating and challenging her colleagues and students to rise to their highest levels."

"She is recognized by her fellow teachers and building leadership as a strong advocate for students and teachers, and has built a professional, respectful and trusting rapport with everyone in Westhill High School," Fernandes added. "We welcome her to her new role as assistant principal."

Fabre holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University and a master’s degree in secondary biology education from Fairfield University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in natural science from Mercy College in New York. Fabre holds several professional certifications.

Fabre’s appointment was effective July 1.
