New Details Released In Hotel Homicide Investigation: Stamford PD
Police were called to a Super 8 hotel in Stamford on Oct. 14. on a report of a shooting.

STAMFORD, CT — The two people who were arrested last week in upstate New York were extradited back to Connecticut on Saturday as police continue their investigation into the fatal shooting of a 59-year-old Stamford resident, according to an update from the Stamford Police Department.
Moises Alejadro Candollo-Urbaneja, 22, and Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias, 24, were extadited from Rensselaer, N.Y., back to Stamford where they were charged with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft, and criminal liablity for acts of another, police said in a news release.
The arrestees were being held on $2 million bonds, which were raised to $5 million Monday, according to police. The arrestees are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 1.

Police were called to the Super 8 hotel on Grenhart Road in Stamford on Oct. 14. on a report of a shooting at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 14. Officers found Angel Samaniego with a gunshot wound, police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Samaniego's death has officially been ruled as a homicide, and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, police said.

Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias were taken into custody by local law enforcement in Rensselaer, N.Y., last week, and charged with possession of stolen property. Police noted the arrestees were found in possession of Samaniego's personal belongings.
Police also said last week the first-degree larceny charge in Stamford is related to the theft of the victim's car, police added.
Rensseleaer police said they were alerted by Stamford authorities that two people had used a stolen credit card at an Amtrak station.
Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias were seen walking with two small children, age 1 and 3, one block east of the Amtrak station in Rensseleaer, accoding to the Rensselaer Police Department.
"Our investigation revealed both parties are in this country illegally from Venezuela. Both parties are believed to be affiliated with Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organization from Venezuela. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was contacted, and responded to RPD, and issued immigration detainers for both parties," Rensselaer police said in an announcement.
Both children were turned oer to the Rensselaer County Child Protective Services, police added.
An investigation remains ongoing.
"The Stamford Police Department continues to prioritize the safety and security of our community," police said Monday. "This investigation is still ongoing, and we will provide further updates as this case progresses."
The Stamford Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit continues to seek information from the public.
