STAMFORD, CT — Nighttime repair work on a damaged beam for the northbound Interstate 95 bridge over Harvard Avenue in Stamford is set to begin Aug. 5, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced this week. Work is expected to occur until Oct. 13.

The project will consist of repairing a damaged fascia beam that was struck by an over-height vehicle, according to the announcement. Workers will be removing the damaged portions of the beam and "replacing it with a new built-up steel section connected to the remaining portion of the existing member using a series of bolted splices."

Highway travelers should expect nighttime lane closures between exits 6 and 8 on the northbound side, DOT officials said.

Harvard Avenue will be closed for three consecutive nights in order to complete the work, during which drivers will be provided with a short detour around the area.
