STAMFORD, CT — A 30-year-old Stamford man on parole was arrested Tuesday after police say they found a large amount of drugs, cash and ammunition during a raid at a home on Peak Street on Feb. 7.

In 2021, Jhonel Telemin-Valerio was acquitted of murder charges in the 2015 shooting death of Maxine Gooden, 43, but he was convicted of criminal possession of a firearm in the incident and sentenced to 10 years in prison in January 2022, the CT Judicial Branch website shows. He was out on parole until May 2026, police said.

Stamford Police arrested Telemin-Valerio on Feb. 11 without incident in Bridgeport on an arrest warrant that charges him with possession of narcotics; possession of a controlled substance; possession with intent to sell; operating a drug factory; and criminal possession of ammunition, according to Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin.

Conklin said Telemin-Valerio left a home in the 30 block of Peak Street on Feb. 7, the same day the Stamford Police Department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad set up surveillance outside the home on Cabrinie Barnes, 35, in an investigation related to possible drug sales in the city.

Barnes was arrested that day after a brief foot pursuit near the home, and officers recovered a large amount of drugs, ammunition, and a loaded gun during a search warrant for the entire house, Conklin said.

During a search of Telemin-Valerio’s room, officers recovered 123.6 grams of fentanyl, 543 oxycodone 30mg pills, broken alprazolam pills, $8,000 in cash, two .380 caliber rounds, packaging materials, and a scale, Conklin said.

Overall, approximately $16,290 worth of oxycodone was seized, along with $8,652 worth of fentanyl, police noted.

Telemin-Valerio was issued a court-set bond of $250,000, but he was remanded to custody, police said. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 25.
