Puppies From Animal Neglect Case Placed With Qualified Fosters

STAMFORD, CT—The 22 puppies that were seized from a Stamford home last month in a case involving credit card fraud and animal neglect have all been placed in "qualified fosters", according to a tweet from the City of Stamford.

"Last week, you may have heard about 22 puppies the City of Stamford gained custody of as evidence in a pending court case. The City is happy to report all the puppies have been placed with qualified fosters. These puppies will be taken very good care of while the case resolves," the tweet said.

Last month, four men were arrested and charged with racketeering, first-degree larceny, conspiracy at first-degree larceny, conspiracy at illegal use of a payment card, animal neglect and importing dogs without a health certificate.

Officers investigated several instances in February in which veterinary services were paid for with fraudulent credit cards. Police received complaints from residents that dogs were being housed at a Belltown Road residence where the first arrest took place.
