Stamford Announces Arts & Culture Grant Winners

The Arts and Culture Commission received over 25 grant applications with over $275,000 in grant aid requested.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission announced the winners of the 2023 Stamford Arts & Culture (SAC) grant.

The commission received over 25 grant applications with over $275,000 in grant aid requested. Grantees were selected for funding based on their commitment to providing quality programs that are accessible, diverse, and innovative for Stamford residents and add to Stamford’s artistic and cultural scene.

"I want to thank Chair Colatrella and the entire Arts and Culture Commission for their work on these grants," Simmons said in a news release. "The arts are such an important part of the vibrancy of our city, and the diversity of this year’s grants recipients demonstrates just how deep the arts and culture scene is in Stamford. I look forward to seeing the many projects that come from this creative group."

Arts and Culture Program Manager Aaron Miller said he was "thrilled" to have so many different organizations apply for the grant this year.

"The excitement from this year’s recipients is palpable and this grant will allow so many different organizations to thrive. Stamford residents will have access to new avenues of arts education and entertainment and for a community as diverse as ours, it’s a very exciting thing to watch unfold," Miller said.

  • Loft Artist Association: $12,500
  • Latino Foundation of Stamford: $7,500

"On behalf of the commissioners, I am pleased that our grant awardees represent so many different parts of Stamford’s arts and culture organizations," said Lynne Colatrella, chair of the Arts and Culture Commission, in a news release. "Their work in arts programming and arts education will be of immense benefit to all our residents. We wish all the arts and cultural organization in Stamford the best of luck and continued success."

For more than 20 years, the Stamford Arts & Culture Grant has provided dozens of Stamford-based arts and cultural organizations with funding to initiate special projects within the city.

This year, the city of Stamford committed $191,500 in grant funding for projects by Stamford-based arts organizations or groups backed by a Stamford-based non-profit.
