Stamford Fire Chief To Retire After 36 Years Of Service

Fire Chief Trevor Roach has been with the Stamford Fire Department since 1987.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons on Wednesday announced that Stamford Fire Department Chief Trevor Roach will retire from his position on Oct. 2.

"I want to thank Chief Roach for his 36 years of service to the city of Stamford," Simmons said in a news release. "In particular, his exemplary management of the COVID-19 pandemic helped the City navigate the many challenges we faced during that uncertain time. I wish him the best of luck on his next chapter."

Roach thanked Simmons and previous administrations for the opportunity to serve the residents of Stamford.

"It has been an honor to work with the dedicated men and women of the Stamford Fire Department, as well as with my colleagues in the city’s Public Safety, Health, and Welfare Department, and I know that they will continue to dutifully serve and protect our community," Roach said in a news release.

Roach has served as chief of the SFD since November 2015. He joined the department in March 1987 and rose through the ranks, having been promoted to lieutenant in 1993, captain in 1996, and deputy fire chief in 2012.

An interim fire chief for the SFD will be announced in the coming weeks, according to Simmons's office.
