Stamford Health Dr. Paul Weinstein receives Heroes for Hope Award
3 Local Oncologists honored at ICRF's Heroes for Hope event
Drs. Paul Weinstein, (Bennett Cancer Center/Stamford Health)Beverly Drucker (Greenwich Hospital), and Richard Zelkowitz (Norwalk Hospital) were honored for their outstanding cancer patient care and dedication to oncology with the Heroes for Hope award Sunday November 4th at the 3rd Annual ICRF Heroes for Hope. The evening was attended by over 160 guests and raised over $150,000 for cancer research in Israel. Dr. Mark Israel, National Executive Director of ICRF and Distinguished Chair in Medicine, Dartmouth Medical School Emeritus and Andrew Faas, TEDx speaker addressed the audience. Dr. Leslie Freedman was Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
The honored doctors were featured in a video shown to the guests and funds were raised towards a cancer research grant for an Israeli scientist. Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) is a nationwide charitable organization that receives its total income from private donations. ICRF was founded in 1975 by a group of American and Canadian researchers, oncologists, and lay people determined to harness Israel's educational and scientific resources in the fight against cancer. ICRF has donated over $68mm, making it the largest private donor in North America to fund cancer research in Israel.
