Stamford Police Release Video of Sex Assault Suspect

Police are hoping the public will recognize the man and be able to supply information on his whereabouts.

Stamford Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a sexual assault suspect who accosted a woman as she walked near the Sheraton hotel last week.

On Monday, police released a video (see below) of the suspect who is wanted in connection with the May 12 assault that occurred about 7:40 p.m. The man attacked the woman on East Main Street near Grove Street, police said.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male in his 20s, about five-foot-seven. He had a close-cropped beard. Police say he was wearing checkered shorts, a dark T-shirt and a baseball cap that was backwards on his head.

Police say they believe the suspect is “familiar with the area having specifically cut through the rear property of the Sheraton and into the lot behind the Eagles Club to Grove Street.”

Although the quality of the video is not good, police are hoping that someone will recognize the suspect “from his movement and clothing.”
