STAMFORD, CT — Police warn residents to lock their vehicles and keep their valuables safe following a "rash of thefts" in Stamford over the past week. Police said the thefts happened at night but did not specify where they occurred in the city.

"We are working diligently in attempts to identify the suspects," police said on the department's Facebook page, "in the meantime, there are things you can do to protect your valuables."

  2. Don't leave any valuables in your vehicle.
  3. If you are leaving things in your car, make sure it is out of sight.
  4. A vehicle is not a place to secure a weapon of any kind; lock boxes can be removed and glove compartments are easily defeated.
