Stamford Public Schools Closed Friday Due To Snow

Stamford Public Schools announced the closure Thursday evening. It's the second closure this week related to weather.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools announced that schools will be closed on Friday because of the impending snowstorm. The district made the announcement around 5:45 p.m. Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory will be in effect beginning at midnight tonight and continuing until noon Friday. The forecast is calling for 3-5 inches of snow and hazardous road conditions during the Friday morning commute. The storm is expected to move out by midday.

This is the second closure for the SPS district this week. On Wednesday, the district closed schools because of freezing rain and icy road conditions.

SPS Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero apologized for announcing the closure late in the morning on Wednesday after originally planning for a two-hour delayed opening.
