Stamford Recycling And Sanitation Schedule Impacted Due To Storm

A blizzard is continuing to impact the region on Monday.

STAMFORD, CT — Due to the blizzard impacting the region Monday, the city of Stamford has announced that recycling and sanitation pickup will be delayed by a day this week.

Schools were closed on Monday in Stamford, along with multiple businesses.

Gov. Ned Lamont declared a State of Emergency Sunday afternoon, though power outages in Stamford have remained at a minimum. As of 10:45 a.m. on Monday, 27 out of 65,291 customers in Stamford were without power, according to Eversource.

Statewide, more than 15,000 were without power on Monday.

The National Weather Service says the warning for southern Connecticut lasts until 6 p.m. Monday, with additional snow accumulations of between 9 and 12 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, the snowfall will taper off between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., followed by cloudy and windy conditions tonight.

Mayor Caroline Simmons over the weekend declared a winter storm emergency effective at 3 p.m. on Feb. 21, and extending through 8 a.m. on Feb. 25, unless sooner terminated.

Stamford’s Snow Emergency ordinance limits on-street parking during a declared snow emergency to allow plows to access and clear streets during extreme winter storms.
