Swastikas Found In Downtown Stamford: Police

The anti-Semitic images were found scrawled in three different locations Thursday.

STAMFORD, CT — Swastikas were found scrawled on the sidewalk in front of Stamford's Ferguson Library and two other downtown locations Thursday morning, according to Stamford Police Lt. Michael Noto.

"The Stamford Police Department as well as the Stamford Community is outraged at this act of intolerance and hate," wrote Noto in a statement on Facebook. "An act of ignorance and hate aimed at any segment of our society is aimed at us all. The Stamford Police Department will leave no stone unturned and will bring all our resources to bear in identifying the person responsible for this cowardly act."

The swastikas were drawn in chalk and had the message "Good Luck" written underneath them. In addition to the front of the library on Broad Street, they were also found in the 200 block of Bedford Street and on Forest Street.

The United Jewish Federation, with the Jewish Family Service of Fairfield County, sponsored the Schoke JFS Annual Saul Cohen Lecture Thursday evening at the library, but the police department had no information "that the acts of vandalism were directed at this lecture."
