Swinging Sixties Farce at Curtain Call.

Before MAD MEN, there was Boeing, Boeing...

It’s the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn’t be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. The laughs begin as Curtain Call’s production of BOEING, BOEING opens in The Dressing Room Theatre, Stamford, on February 28.

This 1960's French Farce by Marc Camoletti, translated from the French by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, played for 19 years in Paris, enjoyed a seven-year run when it first opened in London and has been one of the most-produced French comedies in the world. A film version starring Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis and Thelma Ritter, playing on the bedroom farce antics, was touted as “The biggest comedy of nineteen-sexty-sex.”

“I’ve never seen the film version, but have enjoyed this period piece comedy each time I’ve seen it,” said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call’s executive director and producer for BOEING, BOEING. “When all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously, and Robert can’t remember which lies to tell to whom, it really starts to get crazy,” Ursone added. As with any farce, BOEING, BOEING relies on excellent timing and the availability of many doors…Ursone assured us that this production has both!

Curtain Call’s cast includes Meaghan Elliot, Monica Harrington, Jesse Latoracca, Barbara Salant, Sarah Sherwood and Tyler Small, directed by Stephen Emerick. Production design is by Peter Barbieri, Jr., with costumes by Christine Mallardi. “This is Stephen’s first directing assignment with us, and, based on how I’m seeing the show progress, it will be the first of many,” Ursone said.

Performances will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00PM and Sunday afternoons at 2:00PM, beginning February 28 and continuing through March 17. The Dressing Room Theatre is located at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Seating is cabaret-style with a BYOEverything format.
