Tree Removal Scheduled On Merritt Parkway In Stamford, Greenwich

The state project is set to begin next week and last for nearly three weeks.

STAMFORD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a tree removal operation the Merritt Parkway (Route 1) - northbound and southbound between exits 31 and 33 - on Monday, March 26, in Stamford and Greenwich, according to department officials.

The area set to be cleared is the stretch where a New Jersey man was killed on March 2 when a tree fell on the the car he was driving during a nor'easter.

Officials expect the project to last about three weeks, ending on Wednesday, April 14, though no work will be performed through the Easter Weekend (Thursday, March 29, through Monday, April 2). Advanced Construction & Tree Removal LLC is contracted to perform the work.

Lane Closure Information from the Department of Transportation:

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 15 NB & SB between Exit 31 (North Street #1) and Exit 33 (Den Road #1) in Greenwich and Stamford. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. onRoute 15 NB and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Route 15 SB (Monday – Friday).
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
