STONINGTON, CT — A vehicle with New Jersey license plates crashed just before 9 a.m. Wednesday near Fenner Lane on Pequot Trail and all four people inside fled the scene on foot, Stonington Police Department Deputy Chief Todd Olson told Patch. Of the four, who were tracked by K9s, three are juveniles, Olson said. One of whom was injured in the crash, he noted.
It was 8:48 a.m., when police were notified by a witness to the crash at 1 Fenner Lane and Route 234 (Pequot Trail is a state road).
The witness told police they saw the four "get out of the car, run down the street," Olson said.

Over the course of around an hour, as heard on emergency radio, all four were located. At one point, the Pawcatuck Fire Department was preparing to provide a drone to locate the people.
One of the people was treated for an injury to their leg they sustained in the crash Olson said.
"As part of our continuing investigation into why they fled, we'll get a search warrant for the car to see if anything is in it," Olson said. He said, as yet, it was not known if the car was stolen.
Pequot Trail was closed during the search for the vehicles' occupants.
The vehicle from New Jersey has been impounded, and the adult male driver will get a "summons for evading," Olson said, as police continue to investigate.
