The pursuit was broadcast to area police departments, and both the Montville and Ledyard police departments joined the chase. A Montville officer was able to deploy Stop Sticks in the area of Route 2 and Route 2A in the town of Preston, with troopers and officers still in pursuit. The Jeep finally stopped in the area of the Norwich State Hospital property because of "disabling damage."

Two in the Jeep fled on foot, but were quickly caught by officers, state police said. A gun with an obliterated serial number was found, they said.
