Close to summer now. Tomorrow I think it's official, at 1AMsomething. I know only because the honeysuckle are in full cloying bloom, and when I walk Augie, just after sunrise, while the air is still, the scent hovers over the road. That's always been a marker for the turn from spring to summer for me. I've been griping about the cold and wet spring, but I know in a month or so I'll wish it were cooler. But then I'll be out on the water to escape the mid-day heat, and before long it will be getting chilly again. So, I'll take the surprisingly warm mornings, the early sunrise, the scent of honeysuckle hanging in the air before the winds pick up, and not complain.
I'm having my septic tank pumped this afternoon. I'll go for honeysuckle anytime. Augie, however, thinks the truck pumping out the septic tank is pretty cool. We agree to differ.
